Clinton the Roadshow
Last night Mr Damian was lucky enough to be at a launch party for former President Bill Clinton's rip-roaring autobiography, the sensationally titled 'My Life' (a title which took him almost as long to come up with as it did to sign all those pardons for his mates during his final days in office). Coming on stage to the sound of the Foo Fighters version of the Pink Floyd classic 'Have a Cigar' Clinton wowed the audience of invited friends, family and sycophants with his humour, sense of irony and copious amounts of free booze. He made light of the recent criticism of his book by the New York Times, noting that at least his account was factual - a statement which had them rolling in the aisles. Then after a quick set from Fleetwood Mac, Clinton was joined on stage by actor and Fresh Prince Will Smith as they dueted on the theme from the film Men in Black, the crowd going wild when they both whipped out their Ray Bans and wiggled their hips in a sexually suggestive manner. Finally, it wouldn't be a Clinton bonanza without the grey haired maestro showing off his sax skills - dueting with an unnamed band on a series of jazz standards and resisting all opportunities to make dodgy double entendres about blowing. Clinton will now be embarking on a series of interviews and guest appearances in order to flog as many of his books as possible. Watchful viewers will be able to see him in coming months on Larry King, Letterman, Sesame Street and The Simple Life 2 where he flirts shamelessly with Paris Hilton and totally ignores the far less attractive Nicole Ritchie.
